On Thursday 1st June 2017, the Stadium Events and Hospitality Awards took place at Anfield Stadium, the home of Liverpool FC, and members of the Halo Team traveled from Southampton up to Liverpool for the big night. The aim of the Awards Ceremony is to recognize the efforts and dedication shown by the catering, conferences and events teams at football and rugby grounds across the United Kingdom.
In previous years, Halo have scooped the win for awards such as Chef Team of the Year (Bronze and Silver) and Star of the Future. Last night proved to be a night to remember, with Halo winning three awards - the most we have ever won in one night.
The first of the successes of the night was winning the Bronze Non-Match Day Mystery Shopper Award. The award is judged by HGEM and is based on a mystery shopper enquiring about a non-match day event. The criteria for the award is based on, not only the initial call, but the follow-up process too. This is the first time that Halo have won this award.
The second win of the evening was for the Silver Best Sales or Marketing Initiative Award. This award aims to recognise the very best sales and marketing ideas created and introduced to increase sales. The judges for this award were specifically looking for brave new ideas which have lead to increased support for stadium activities. Halo had to prepare a case study for the award, in which a lot of time was put in to working on, and we are very proud to have won this award which, again, is a first for Halo.
The final award win came at the end of the evening, when Halo were awarded Silver for the Matchday Hospitality Award (Medium Stadium). This category is judged independently by expert chefs from Salon Culinaire. Halo were judged on the entire match day experience, including efficiency pre-match, professionalism and customer service on the day, with the main focus being on the Catering and Service experience.
Discussing the success of Halo at the Awards, Head of Sales and Event Planning Samantha McGrath said "As a member of the Leadership Team at Stadium Experience, I am a huge supporter in rewarding staff for their achievements and successes in different areas. Within my department, we have very high standards in Customer Service and one of our goals over the last couple of years was to be selected to win the Non-Matchday Mystery Shopper Award. In winning this award, this shows the team's full commitment in providing a high level of Customer Service throughout the year. In terms of the Best Sales and Marketing Initiative Award, the case study we put together was based on the team's focus in driving lost revenue. This is something that the team put in to best practice every day of the year, showing their passion in exceeding sales targets and building working partnerships. It is an absolute pleasure to be part of Stadium Experience, and we are already looking forward to next year, where we are aiming for Gold!"
Head of Catering Operations, Julien Thenezay, was delighted with the Silver Award for Matchday Hospitality and said "I am delighted that Halo have won Silver for ‘Match Day Hospitality’ at the Awards. Halo are proud to provide all the catering services at St Mary’s on a match day and as a team, we always go the extra mile to ensure that all our supporters have the best possible experience every home game. The operations team work incredibly hard throughout the season, so it is wonderful that our efforts have been recognised. I am very proud of the teams achievements and hope we can all work together to win Gold next year!"
